
Olivier Jousson
Olivier Jousson is an Associate Professor of General Microbiology at the Centre for Integrative Biology. His research interests include: population biology of animal and human pathogenic bacteria; bacterial virulence; genotype-phenotype association; bacterial detection/identification; microbial cell factories. Olivier holds MSc in Biological Sciences (University of Geneva, Switzerland) and PhD in Biology (University of Geneva, Switzerland, and University of Marseille, France). He is currently involved in several scholarly projects: Microbial degradation of keratin: an application for hair removal in the tanning industry (Funded by Biodermol Ambiente srl); TIESPA – Testing Inhibitory Effect of Self-DNA treatment in PAthogens associated with Cystic Fibrosis (AND Biopharma BV); the microbiome of thermal and mineral waters: isolation and functional characterization of bioactive microbes (Autonomous Province of Trento); a One Health epidemiological study on the distribution and circulation of Pseudomonas aeruginosa : implications for patients with cystic fibrosis (Associazione Trentina Fibrosi Cistica); cosmeceutical applications of microbial communities from spring and mineral waters (CARITRO Foundation). Olivier has 70 publications in international peer-reviewed journals (impact Factor 24).
